FEI European Championships Dressage Riesenbeck 2023
Results of the Grand Prix Special
Jessica von Bredow-Werndl (GER) : Gold medal with TSF Dalera BB, 16 year old Trakehner mare by Easy Game
“She was abnormally good. She was 100 percent with me from the first to the last second. It is always work, and you have to have everything on point. You want your horse to be happy and willing to do it. I only entered the warm up area with two competitors before me, because I just wanted her to be happy. It feels like we have improved again, and I have been working hard on the details, but she is just doing it and willing to do it. The details I have been working on are walk, which I took very seriously. It is not something you train, but you must love to do it and I am doing it in the forest. I have working on every details and it feels like there is still room for improvement.
Nanna Skodborg Merrald (DEN): Silver medal with Blue Hors Zepter, 15 year old Oldenburger gelding by Blue Hors Zack
„It is a dream coming true today. I knew it was possible to fight for the medals this year, but I also knew that I was up against three amazing strong women who could do the same. So I really had so much focus in doing my test today and every step at the time and in the end the result is how it is. All the small details matter. During the test I was so focused and a little bit nervous, but I was only thinking forward and after I finished the last halt I had the feeling I had given everything I could. And when I heard the scores, it was unbelievable. I think it was even better than the Grand Prix Special in Aachen. “
Charlotte Dujardin (GBR): Bronze Medal with Imhotep, 10 year old KWPN Gelding by Everdale
„I love to work with young horses and develop the partnership. I feel that Pete is sometimes a bit insecure and I have to hold his hand, take him through it and tell him that he can do it. Today it was full of people and it takes a lot for a horse to go in there down the centerline and do a perfect test. Yes I have experience and I can help him go through it, but he has to do it as well. I feel so proud of Pete like to go in there again and perform the way he does: mistake free test. Okay with little blips that can be better, but he’s a young and inexperienced horse. I could not be more proud of him.”
