Westphalia claims first victory at highly successful WBFSH championships

Oct 1, 2023

The Westphalian studbook recorded a historical first victory at the new WBFSH event in Valkenswaard on Saturday. Seven studbooks competed against each other in the final of the 8-year-olds, in teams of three combinations per studbook. The KWPN had earned the last starting spot thanks to good preliminaries, but could not finish the job.

The competition was finished in pairs and the three combinations stayed together in the ring until the last rider had ridden. First starter Westfalen put pressure right away with two clear rounds for Ballerina 328 under Marie Ligges and Lajacuma under Hendrik Dowe. The latter could not complain about luck, but Westfalen's eight penalties posed a tough challenge right from the start.

Zangersheide came very close to that. Because with a strong clear round by Thomas De Wit and Ecuador DW Z, the Melchior studbook's total also stuck at 8, but the trio of combinations needed one second more in total.

Third place went to the remarkably strong Danish team, followed by the KWPN.
The first edition of what is perceived by everyone as a true studbook competition of the WBFSH goes into the books as very successful.
